GenESG Project
Sustainable Finance Microlearning with Educational Generative AI. GenESG is an EU-funded initiative that bridges the gap between sustainable finance education and artificial intelligence.
Centre of Expertise Mission Zero

The project aims to enhance ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) learning by integrating AI-driven microlearning solutions in higher education. Through interdisciplinary research, curriculum innovation, and AI-powered educational tools, GenESG empowers students and educators with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the evolving landscape of sustainable finance. The project is uncovering the need for more rigorous change both for the content taught in HEIs as well as the teaching methods used in the classes and lectures. Students have shown interest in learning more about AI-powered educational tools but they lack the support and the access to such information.
In the video below, you’ll get to know the GenESG project: an international collaboration that transforms education on sustainable finance through generative AI. Students and educators explore how microlearning makes ESG education more accessible and effective.
Target group
The project is aimed at education professionals both actively teaching as well as policymakers on a national and EU level. The project is meant to shed light on the use of AI in HEI and to promote a safe and responsible use of AI-powered tools.
Approach
Mixed methodologies – Through student surveys, focus groups with lecturers, desk research and country reports. As well as research publications from all the partnering universities.
