Each degree programme has its own Trial Study Programme. In the overview, you can see what your Trial Study Day will look like and how to prepare. This helps you know what to expect on the day itself.
What is the difference between a Trial Study Day and a Shadow a Student Day?
Trial Study Day
A Trial Study Day offers you a structured introduction to a programme. You meet other prospective students and get a clear idea of what the programme content is like and what you can expect in the first year. Trial Study Days take place on fixed dates throughout the year.
Shadow a Student Day
During a Shadow a Student Day, you join a current student during a regular study day. You sit in on real classes and experience the programme as it is. You can ask questions and see how students and lecturers interact. The day can take place on any weekday between October and May, depending on what fits your schedule and the student’s timetable.

What is a Trial Study Day?
A Trial Study Day is specially designed for prospective students. You do not attend regular classes, but take part in sessions created by lecturers to introduce you to the degree programme. You experience different types of classes and get a feel for how teaching and learning work.
Trial Study Days usually take place on campus and sometimes online. Like the Shadow a Student Day, participation is free.
What is a good time to sign up for a Trial Study Day?
A Trial Study Day is useful when you are exploring your options or narrowing down your choice.

- when you are comparing two or three degree programmes
- when you want to learn more about the content of a programme and what the first year looks like
