Shadow a Student Day
During a Shadow a Student Day, you tag along with a student from a degree programme during a regular school day. You experience what the programme is really like and spend time with students who are already attending it. It’s a practical way to see daily student life up close, especially if you are exploring your options from abroad.
- Tag along with a student from the degree programme you’re interested in, for a day
- You can sign up between October and May via the application form.
- We schedule the day at a date that works for both you and the student
- It’s free, no strings attached
What is the difference between a Shadow a Student Day and a Trial Study Day?
Shadow a Student Day
You follow one student during a regular study day. You sit in on real classes and experience the programme as it is. You can ask questions and see how students and lecturers interact. The day can take place on any weekday between October and May, depending on what fits your schedule and the student’s timetable.
Trial Study Day
A Trial Study Day offers you a structured introduction to a programme. You meet other prospective students and get a clear idea of what the programme content is like and what you can expect in the first year. Trial Study Days take place on fixed dates throughout the year.
Not sure which one to choose?
- Choose a Trial Study Day if you want to learn more about the content of the degree programme and meet other potential students.
- Choose a Shadow a Student Day if you want to experience the atmosphere and see what a typical study day looks like.
Questions and answers
What is a Shadow a Student Day?
During a Shadow a Student Day, you are paired with a current student. They show you a typical day in their life. You attend classes together and move around campus just like they do.
This is not a special programme designed for you. You may join classes in the middle of a course. You might not understand everything. That’s completely fine. The goal is not to follow the content, but to see how things work in real life.
You experience:
- the teaching style
- the classroom environment
- how students work together
- the overall atmosphere of the programme
This helps you decide if this way of studying suits you.
What is a good time to sign up for a Shadow a Student Day?
A Shadow a Student Day is useful when you are exploring your options or narrowing down your choice.
For example:

- when you are comparing two or three degree programmes
- if you want to know what studying at THUAS is like
