Social safety and inclusion
A safe learning and working environment
Diversity is our strength, and with more than 150 nationalities under our roof, we house an impressive number of perspectives. That is why it is important that we offer an inclusive environment, so that everyone feels welcome and at home. In an environment where everyone feels seen and valued, we can learn, collaborate and innovate better together.
As a university of applied sciences, we prepare all our students in the best possible way for their role in the workplace and society. This requires a safe learning and working environment, where students and staff have room to be themselves, to learn, to make mistakes and to grow. This means that we also pay close attention to social safety and inclusion within THUAS. By doing so, we increase the knowledge of our students and staff, make them aware of their own behaviour and its impact.
Our support and guidance
For a safe and inclusive university of applied sciences
Undesirable behaviour
Unfortunately, you may still encounter undesirable - inappropriate - behaviour. We believe it is important to resolve this properly with each other. In a safe way, with mutual respect. We have set up several points of contact for this purpose:
For students
Your first point of contact is the student coach or a trusted lecturer.
You can also always turn to a confidential adviser.
Or student counsellor or student psychologist (via your student counsellor).
For employees
Your first point of contact is your manager.
Confidential advisers are also available to you.
For managers
For issues like workload and undesirable behaviour, you can seek advice from HRM.
Don’t bottle it up
Are you struggling and don't know who to turn to? Then you can always turn to the confidential advisor, who will help you further. You can find their contact details on the intranet.
To many people, discussing an unpleasant experience is stressful. That is very understandable. But it often does take a load off your shoulders. A confidential adviser is there especially for you, and especially for these kinds of situations. In a safe environment, without pressure or judgement, you can see if you can find a solution together.
If talking is not enough
Has talking about your issue(s) not helped, and is the situation not improving? If that is the case, you can make a report or file an official complaint with our Legal Protection Desk. There are also Ombuds officers available who can help with this.
