Team New Finance

Martijn began his position as professor of the New Finance research group in 2018. His dissertation at the TU Delft was completed in 2022, regarding the design of the monetary-financial system in the digital age. His research relates to new forms of digital money (CBDC’s, stablecoins and cryptos), the liberalisation of banks, mechanisms in the monetary system that contribute to inequality and financial instability, as well as monetary policy and reform proposals.

Thomas is a financial economist who follows the developments in the financial sector since the credit crunch of 2008. 

Nanna develops curricula for critical thinking about our financial system as a researcher at New Finance and is a senior lecturer with International Business.

With a background in economics, Cristiano has an interest in evaluating or fostering understanding regarding societal, monetary and financial matters. Latest interests vert around Inequality, Digitalization of Money and Green Finance.

Since 2009, I have explored alternative financing methods, launching the world’s first banking crowdfunding platform and coordinating The Ocean Cleanup campaign. My experience spans incubators, accelerators, and entrepreneurial education, revealing an ecosystem lacking diversity and value. To achieve sustainable long-term results, we must rethink how we value and develop investments beyond just financial capital.

Theo has been a teacher for Finance & Control since november 2013. He researches how sustainability can become an integral component of the curriculum in higher economic professional education.

He is affiliated with two research groups: New Finance and Change Management.

Carlijn is an architect and cartographer. She visualises complex social, economic, and political systems, using architectural designs and metaphors. 

Jan Hendrik is developing a new financial and educational concept in his role as teacher and researcher: the establishment of the student-led Investment Fund.

Sebastiaan is lecturer Industrial Engineering & Management and works as a researcher for the ACES project, studying Circular Economy (CE) & Management Accounting.

Ludger has a background in psychology and international relations and does research about the effective use of sustainability indicators by public institutions and companies.

Strategic Partnerships & Business Development

Marlon supports HHs develop strategic relationships with external parties, including forming research partnerships with the commercial sector. He also works on initiatives that improve the positioning of HHs, including supporting the launch of new courses.

Sanne is lecturer Industrial Engineering & Management with a background in social sciences and works as a researcher studying Circular Economy (CE) and intergrated reporting.

Karl teaches in the professionals part-time program at the Faculty of Business, Finance & Marketing and works as a researcher on Integrated Reporting and the impact of sustainability reporting on the finance function.
