But what does this significant increase mean for our students and staff?

"We are removing real barriers for students," says Erasmus+ Coordinator Eva Lekaki. "We now have sufficient funding to support every application we receive, making an exchange semester financially accessible for many more students. This means more funding, more opportunities, fewer barriers and less uncertainty."

Benefits for everyone

The European Union's Erasmus+ programme promotes education, training, youth and sport. At THUAS, the Key Action 131 (KA131) project focuses on mobility within Europe. Eva explains: "We offer students and staff the opportunity to develop intercultural and professional skills, which are more valuable than ever in today's labour market. Through staff visits, training programmes and guest lectures at partner institutions, both academic and professional services staff can benefit from international experiences. In this way, the benefits of internationalisation extend across the entire university."

Top 10 in the Netherlands

The allocation of €1.8 million over the next three years did not happen by chance. This achievement is the result of a joint effort by the Strategy Team, the International Office, the faculties, the B&C Department and the Osiris FUB team. "Collective success is what matters. not individual credit", Eva adds.

Thanks to this collaboration, THUAS now ranks ninth out of 64 Dutch higher education institutions in terms of Erasmus+ funding allocation. An outstanding achievement that gives our international reputation a significant boost.

More than just funding

As part of the overall budget, Erasmus+ also provides funding for organisational support. This enables THUAS to further enhance the quality of its Erasmus+ programme by investing in additional support for participants, such as intercultural preparation programmes, language support and other initiatives for both incoming and outgoing mobile participants.

Eva concludes: "The true value of Erasmus+ lies in the experiences, personal growth and connections it creates. These transformative experiences stay with participants long after their mobility period has ended. Erasmus+ changes lives, and it will continue to do so in the future."
