Learning, innovating, and improving. These are values we encourage in our students every day through our education and by setting an example ourselves. We saw that reflected when nine teaching teams stood out in the National Student Survey (NSE), achieving the largest improvements compared to last year. That calls for nothing less than pride, celebration, and, of course, cake.

In recent weeks, the Executive Board visited the teaching teams from Entrepreneurship and Retail Management, Law  – English Stream, Nutrition & Dietetics, Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (The Hague), European Studies – English Stream, Primary School Teacher Training (PABO), Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management – Associate degree (part-time) and Safety and Security Management Studies (dual).

Recognition

Arend Hardorff, member of the Executive Board, said: "High-quality education is about more than just a curriculum on paper. A programme truly comes to life for students through the people who teach and the colleagues who make it all possible behind the scenes. That is why it is so important for us to visit these teams in person and express our appreciation for all the colleagues who dedicate themselves every day to providing relevant, high-quality education. Together with their students, they make the difference."

Shared success

The improvement in the results demonstrates what is possible when teams continue working together to enhance the quality of their education by listening, reflecting, and continuously improving. Each programme has its own approach. Yet, our conversations with the teams revealed several recurring themes: genuine attention to students, an open feedback culture in which students feel heard, lecturers who are visible and approachable, and an ongoing dialogue about how education can be improved even further. After all, education is something we create together.

The trust that teams receive to take responsibility for the development of their programmes, drawing on their own professional expertise, also plays an important role. When people are given the space to take ownership, they also have the opportunity to learn, innovate, and continue building excellent education together.
