Making an impact on the world around us. That is what THUAS is focusing on in the coming years, together with our students, staff, and external partners. This direction is set out in our Strategic Plan.
Inquiry-based learning with impact
Our direction for the coming years is set out in the Strategic Plan 2023-2028: Inquiry-based learning with impact. In this plan, we have turned important societal trends into concrete ambitions for 2028.
Our commitment to students and to professionals who continue learning is that, after completing their studies at THUAS, they will:
- have developed their potential
In depth and in breadth. - have strengthened their opportunities on the labour market
Through what they have learnt and how they have learnt, thanks to our practice-oriented research and our education in collaboration with the professional field. - have increased their relevance to society
Through the impact they can make, as professionals and as people.
Four strategic themes
We defined our direction on the basis of four strategic themes:
Quality of education and research
We remain committed to quality: high-quality, practice-oriented degree programmes and research. In doing so, we challenge our (international) students to think critically, creatively, and with an inquiring mind. We are also further integrating research into our curriculum. Students learn not only what, but above all how. How can you use the knowledge you gain to make an impact on the world around you? Because we connect our education and research to current, real-world problems. And that benefits our partners too: they gain fresh insights into the challenges they face.
Co-creation with the professional field
In our education and research, collaboration with regional and international partners plays a central role. As a result, our students gain more practical experience, our staff collaborate more often with external partners, and partners can actively contribute ideas on educational innovation. Through this co-creation, we ensure that we are and remain relevant to the professional field.
Contributing to a sustainable and just world
THUAS aims to contribute to a sustainable society. That is why we are integrating sustainability and justice into increasingly more curricula and research projects. As a result, our students learn to work on real societal transitions. Our partners also play their part, because they are precisely the ones looking for solutions to these global problems.
In addition, we have concrete goals:
- By 2030, we will be a zero-waste organisation with no residual waste
- By 2040, we will have zero emissions with net zero CO₂ emissions
- Sustainability and justice are core components of every curriculum
An inclusive community
THUAS aims to be an environment where everyone feels welcome and can take part, regardless of background, culture or perspective. Inclusion is reflected in our support, our education, and our culture. For both our students and our staff, we work continuously on a safe learning and working environment in which respect, growth, and connection take centre stage.
