Daniëlle Zawadi
Daniëlle Zawadi (1999) is a prose writer, spoken word artist, theatre maker, and literary programmer. Her work explores what it means to grow up in the Netherlands as part of the second generation—born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and raised in the Netherlands. Drawing on her bicultural background, she writes about friendship and how its meaning evolves over time. As a member of Gen Z, she uses writing to capture her lived experience like a snapshot — creating images others can recognize themselves in — blending Dutch, French, and English while weaving in references to physics, pop culture, and family traditions. Driven by her passion for writing, Zawadi founded Het Zwarte Schaap, a platform for word art in The Hague, in 2019. She currently works as a programmer for Poetry International Rotterdam and Crossing Border in The Hague.
