Creative workshop

Hans van Bentem incorporates elements from pop culture, religion and everyday life into his work. Together with Hans and Dodo Albrecht, discover how you can translate your own impressions of the world into a ceramic sculpture.

Artists

Hans van Bentem (1965, The Hague) creates colourful, monumental sculptures for public spaces, packed with symbols from different cultures, religions and eras. You might already know his striking turquoise work right in front of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, a swirling mix of a phoenix, angel, all-seeing eye, burning heart and panther. Six more of his works can be found inside the building.

Dodo Albrecht (AT) graduated as a visual artist from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2010. After working as a visual artist for a number of years, also as half of the Swiss artist duo Van der Plas en Albrecht, she decided to broaden her artistry with a traditional ceramics training. She completed her ceramic education in 2021 at the Nederlandse Keramiekopleiding in Gouda. In 2024 she founded Studio Quasi for functional and unfunctional ceramics.
