About the Documentary
In AWO NOW NU, young people aged 15 to 18 from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten share their perspectives on identity, history, awareness, and the future. They reflect on how the legacy of slavery continues to shape their daily lives and experiences today.
Created through a collaboration between young people from across the Dutch Caribbean, the documentary highlights encounters, dialogue, and a growing sense of connection within the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. At times eye-opening and deeply thought-provoking, AWO NOW NU gives young people a voice in the ongoing conversation about the significance of the past for present and future generations.
