Szilvia is a lecturer in Public International Law at THUAS and a researcher within the Centre of Expertise Global and Inclusive Learning. Previously, her research focused on environmentally fuelled (sexual) violence against Indigenous women, particularly examining the interplay between environmental factors, colonialism, and the root causes of conflict. She was also one of the contributing authors of the UN report Gender, Climate and Security, coordinated by the UN Environment Programme. She is currently exploring various aspects of human security.
