Team Energy in Transition

In August 2018 Sander was appointed professor of Energy in Transition. In addition to his work as a professor at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, he holds a KIVI (Royal Institution of Engineers in the Netherlands) chair.

Baldiri Salcedo studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia and completed his PhD at the Technical University of Delft on the management of energy renovations in buildings. His work focuses on the analysis of energy performance and energy flexibility of buildings and districts through monitoring and computer simulation.

Serena studied Chemical Engineering at Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy. In 2024, she obtained her PhD cum laude from Eindhoven University of Technology, working on membrane reactors for H2 production. She then briefly continued as PostDoc at TU/e, aiming to upscale membrane-assisted H2 purification. Her research is focused on sustainable H2 production and utilization.

Ruben studied and did a PhD in Chemical Engineering at TU/e. After a short period as researcher with Corus, he began at Albemarle Catalysts. He worked on testing and development of catalysts, the last years predominantly on biomass-to-fuels and waste plastic oil (chemical recycling of plastics). Now he works on exploration of hydrogen as an energy carrier in the energy transition.

Sustainanillity has always had his special interest. Since 2010, he has been involved in both education and research surrounding the energy transition at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. His background revolves around systems theory, simulation and energy theory. At the research group Energy in Transition he specializes in these subjects. His main focus is on projects in which hydrogen has a significant role as an energy carrier.

Pauline has been working on the energy transition from an economic and policy perspective for 12 years in the government. Within the Energy and Transition research groep, she uses this knowledge and expertise in applied sustainability issues. For example, on issues surrounding making greenhouses and holiday homes more sustainable.

Frans has worked in education for almost forty years in the Facility Management course and for the last 14 years also partly as a researcher at various lectorates. First at the Energy in the Built Environmentresearch group of Professor Laure Itard and later at Energy in Transition, where he works with associate professor Baldiri Salcedo. He has a passion for sustainability in relation to end users. First of all, it must be about the quality of the live- and working environment and if you have this under control, you also have a grip over energy consumption.

Pepijn is business development manager for Centre of Expertise Mission Zero and project manager for various energy projects in the research group Energy in Transition. Pepijn has a bachelor's degree in management of technology. He also works for HTM, the The Hague Public Transport organisation on sustainability and energy projects. 

His extensive knowledge of AC installations sparked his interest in learning more about DC installations, an area still filled with many uncertainties. Seeking a new challenge, he is now delving into DC installations, using his installation expertise to guide these projects successfully.
