Team Global and Inclusive Learning

From 1 January 2021, Naomi van Stapele has started as new Inclusive Education professor The Hague University of Applied Sciences. She has a clear vision of inclusive education and a vivid picture of how this can be further shaped within THUAS. She has demonstrable affinity with our city and our divers intitution. 

Jos Beelen’s research interests include internationalisation at home and the skills of academics to internationalise teaching and learning.  Jos is Visiting Professor at Coventry University and at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. He is a Research Fellow at the University of the Free State (South Africa).

Ellen Sjoer heads the Sustainable Talent Development Research Group since 2011. She also participates in various networks such as the Stichting HRM Lectorennetwerk Nederland and the board of the IACEE (International Association for Continuing Engineering Education). 

In 2021, Theo started at The Hague University of Applied Sciences as director of the Education, Knowledge & Communication department. After his PhD, he combines all his knowledge and experience as a Learning Technology & Analytics professor. In addition, Theo is an Assistant Professor at the VU Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences.

Dr. Barbara Warwas has been employed at THUAS since 2016 in roles as coordinator and lecturer at the International and European Law Programme. In 2018 she was appointed as Professor of Multilevel Regulation.  Barbara is the author of The Liability of Arbitral Institutions: Legitimacy Challenges and Functional Responses published by Springer, 2016. 

Rosa is a senior researcher within the Centre of Expertise Global and Inclusive Learning and focuses on research on sustainable transitions, European working, citizenship education and urban issues such as labour migration and youth participation.

She is affiliated with two Research groups: Changing Role of Europe and Inclusive Education

Sylvia’s research focuses on multi-level governance issues in the areas of climate change adaptation (especially heatwaves), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and public safety, climate change policing and environmental crime, as well as future professionals’ skills to achieve the SDGs. She is also associate professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam. 
 

Wâtte Zijlstra is a senior researcher, trainer and facilitator. Key themes in his work are student success, diversity & inclusion, educational innovation, leadership and sustainability. He has worked for THUAS since 2001, and his drive is to contribute to the inclusiveness of our learning environment and the change agency of students and staff. He does this through research and as a trainer/facilitator of the Senior Teacher Guidance Course (SDB) and The Hague Innovation Network (HINT), among other things.

Clair Moore is manager at the Centre of Expertise Global and Inclusive Learning. With 19 years of experience within The Hague University of Applied Sciences, she is committed to inclusive education and equal opportunities for all, inside and outside the classroom.

Tamara leads the Student-led Research Unit. With a focus on student experiences, the student researchers within this unit explore issues they initiated themselves (student-led). Tamara supports the students' research projects with thoughtful mentoring and delivering (research) skill training. Within THUAS, she creates linkages with other organisational units along the themes of inclusive participation, diversity, and leadership for enhanced student empowerment.
