More than just entertainment, physical activity and passion, sport is – like any other industry – a place where politics, economy, culture and society intersect. In this podcast Marcela Hofman gives examples of this and where future sports managers will be able to promote change.
Marcela Hofman is a lecturer with the International Sport Management programme at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. She has a background in media and sports management, has a bachelor degree in Journalism and worked as a reporter for over 10 years in Brazil, where she was born and raised. Marcela then moved to the United States to get a master’s in Sports Management and to work in the sports industry, more specifically in tennis tournaments. Later, she moved to Canada for a PhD in Sports Sociology.
