Building sustainable connections between institutions, countries, cultures, and languages takes time. That is why we seized the opportunity during the international Erasmus Days in October. Around one hundred third-year students, divided into twenty project groups, explored how the eight UNINOVIS Excellence Hubs could better showcase their knowledge and opportunities.

Jerke Verschoor, local coordinator of UNINOVIS, explains:“By organizing activities simultaneously, our main goal is to increase awareness of UNINOVIS among students.”

Students help shape UNINOVIS

Students also contribute to this effort, including Oliver Calvo, who manages UNINOVIS’s social media channels as part of his graduation internship. “As a young organization, UNINOVIS has a lot to offer, but not all students and lecturers are familiar with it yet,” says Oliver. “That is why we want to make it more visible so that everyone can see the opportunities available within our institutions.”

Julia Brose, a third-year International Communication Management (ICM) student, adds: “During the event, I discovered how much room there still is for new ideas and development, and that the partners involved are also continuously learning.” According to Julia, this openness to development and collaboration is exactly what makes the alliance attractive to students. “UNINOVIS opens doors we may not even have thought of ourselves.”

International opportunities for everyone

Above all, the collaboration aims to create tangible opportunities for students. Through Erasmus+, students can receive financial support to study or complete an internship abroad, gain international experience, and build a professional network. THUAS receives increasing levels of funding for this purpose each year.

Jerke explains: “Most importantly, we want every student who wishes to do so to have the opportunity to study abroad. Whether that is in neighbouring countries such as Belgium and Germany or further afield, it enriches your life by giving you a glimpse beyond your own bubble.
