Experiencing politics up close

Second-year International Public Policy and Leadership student Anna is very interested in politics and found it special to experience that world up close. “As a white woman from a family that is doing well, I am very aware of my privileged position. That’s exactly why I would like to do something meaningful for others in the future. I would love to use my influence to help people one day.”

Unfortunately, the students did not get the opportunity to ask questions, even though Anna already had one prepared. “After reading the Budget Memorandum, I wondered what postponing the climate targets means for our generation. I would also like to ask how they plan to involve students in discussions about issues that will affect their future.”

Ambitions for the future

Sanne, a European Studies student, would like to pursue a career in politics. That’s why she consciously takes opportunities like this one. “I think it’s a wonderful idea that, as an individual, you can change the world and make it better for the future.”

Charley is also studying European Studies and particularly enjoys the dynamics surrounding politics. “There’s always something happening and there’s always something to follow.” She doesn’t necessarily see herself in front of the camera in the future. A role behind the scenes, for example writing reports, seems more interesting to her.

Ivan shares that ambition. He studies Public Administration and Government Management and may want to enter politics himself in the future. “I’m drawn to solving societal problems, and I see my degree as a good foundation for that.” For him, the broadcast was mainly an opportunity to get as close to politics as possible.
