On 3 January 2022, the Dutch government reconsiderered the current corona policy. For higher education the current rules will not be changed. In concrete terms, this means that all higher education in the Netherlands will be provided online until at least 14 January. The existing exceptions for practical education, education for vulnerable students and academic testing remain in force. On 14 January the measures for higher education will be reviewed.
What does this mean for The Hague University of Applied Sciences?
In line with the previous communication (dated 18/12/21), The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) has decided to mainitain these measures until at least 7 February, 2022, (the end of the first semester). All regular education will be offered online during this period, with the previously mentioned exceptions for exams, practical education and guidance of vulnerable students - these will continue to be offered on location.
We can imagine that there are already questions about Semester 2. However, it is still too early and the situation is still too unstable to give any clarity on this right now. More news, when available, will be communicated through the regular channels.
What does this mean for our study facilities?
For students who want to come to the campus for self-study: You can still use the study places in our library, based on the current ticket system.
The sports facilities will remain closed until at least 14 January.
What does this mean for our employees?
The home working norm is also unchanged. Staff may only come to work if this is strictly necessary for giving or enabling practical or online education, examinations and guidance of vulnerable students. For what this means in individual cases you should discuss within your team and with your direct supervisor.
For the time being, we will be predominantly working together online. We now know that looking after each other in an online working and learning environment is even more important than when you meet each other in-person. That is exactly why extra attention for colleagues and students can make the difference. Take good care of each other.
For now, of course, we wish you all the best for 2022 and a wonderful second vacation week.
Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, ideas or concerns.
