We are proud to share that our UNESCO Chair on AI and Data Science for Society, professor Lampros Stergioulas, represented The Hague University of Applied Sciences at this year’s Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, the world’s leading summit on smart cities and urban innovation.

During the event, Stergioulas connected with global experts, city leaders and innovators, bringing strong visibility to THUAS’ growing impact in the smart city domain. Key highlights include:

  • Showcasing THUAS research and UNESCO Chair initiatives on data-driven urban innovation, resilient city infrastructures and AI-enhanced public services.
  • Exploring new collaboration opportunities with municipalities, industry partners and international research networks.
  • Gathering insights on cutting-edge trends, such as ethical AI for city governance, digital twins for urban planning, and sustainable mobility ecosystems.
  • Strengthening THUAS’ presence in the global dialogue on the cities of the future.

We look forward to building on the momentum of this event as we continue developing solutions that support more sustainable, inclusive and intelligent urban environments.
