That’s why board member Arend Hardorff signed an agreement with ADO Den Haag’s general director, Natascha van Grinsven-Admiraal. “ADO plays a major social role in the region and is more than just a football club”, said Arend.

The club’s social initiatives align seamlessly with the university’s mission. ADO Groen the club’s social and sustainability movement develops numerous projects that fit perfectly within the field of sports management. Professor Koen Breedveld highlights the mutual benefits for both students and the club: “We help ADO set up meaningful projects, while students and research groups gain valuable hands-on experience. Together, both organizations contribute to the city and create a rich learning environment for students.”

Unique Opportunities

For students in programs such as Sports Studies and International Sports Management, this partnership offers more internships, research opportunities, and inspiring guest lectures at the WerkTalent Stadium. For ADO Den Haag, the collaboration brings in fresh knowledge, new ideas, and connections with young professionals. Both parties will also work together to highlight local projects, events, and research outcomes.

Added Value for the City and Region

“This partnership underscores our social role as a professional football organization. Together with THUAS, we use sport as a tool to make The Hague more vibrant and connected”, said Natascha. Arend sees the collaboration as a win-win: “With our students, programs, and research, we link knowledge and expertise to real societal challenges. By joining forces, we create true added value not just for each other, but also for the city and the region.”

Moving Forward Together

The partnership will officially begin in September 2025 and will be evaluated after one year. Both parties aim to deepen the collaboration further in the years to come.
