Omroep West coverage
6 July 2026
Everyone at THUAS should feel safe, heard and seen. This requires ongoing attention and commitment.
Omroep West featured a report today on social safety at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. We have been working towards a socially safe working environment for some time now, in collaboration with staff, employee representative bodies and trade unions.
Everyone at The Hague University of Applied Sciences should feel safe, heard and seen. This requires ongoing attention and commitment. That is why, in recent years, we have invested in better support, training and an accessible support and reporting structure.
In early 2025, during a routine periodic inspection, the Labour Inspectorate concluded that the fundamentals were in order. Based on that advice, we commissioned a supplementary independent study. This shows that staff feel engaged in their work, but also that workload and social safety continue to require attention.
Using these findings, we are working on targeted improvements, both university-wide and within the individual organisational units. Social safety is not a topic that is ever fully resolved; it requires attention every day. We will continue to work on this together with our colleagues.
