We are delighted to announce that Prof. Lampros Stergioulas, the UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Society at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, recently participated in the 5th ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS5) held between 12-16 September 2023.

Event Overview

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is a prestigious intergovernmental organization fostering cooperation and understanding between the people, institutions, and organizations of Asia and Europe. The 5th ASEF Young Leaders Summit is a flagship program focusing on the theme of ‘Leadership & Society 5.0’. It convened over 100 young leaders from 51 countries, providing a platform for learning, exchange, and collaboration and connecting them with decision-makers and leaders from both continents.

Prof. Stergioulas’s Contributions

Prof. Stergioulas delivered a keynote talk titled “Society 5.0: The Future of Human-centered Technology” on the morning of 14 September. He shared profound insights on human-centered AI and technology, discussing the opportunities and risks and emphasizing the importance of using technology for the greater good. Prof. Stergioulas also participated in a panel discussion on the Role of Technology and Societal Challenges at the ASEF YL Summit,

Panel Session Details

The panel session at the University of Salamanca explored the findings of the forthcoming report “Youth Perception Report on Societal Challenges and Role of Technology 2023”, providing different regional perspectives on the challenges discussed in the report. The session was moderated by Mr. Tomas Akynov and included the following speakers: Ms. Kirsten Broekema, Ms. Katrina Spronge, and Mr. Abhishek Vats, and Mr. Lampros Stergioulas.
