Albania’s EU aspirations
3 November 2025
10:00 - 11:00
Speakers' Corner

The Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 gave new momentum to the European Union’s enlargement policy. Nine countries are now official candidates for EU membership — and one of them is Albania.
On 3 November 2025, THUAS students will get a unique opportunity to meet Artur Kuko, the Ambassador of Albania in the Netherlands and Elisa Spiropali, Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and hear firsthand about the country’s road to the EU.
Minister Spiropali will talk about why Albania wants to join the EU, the progress made so far, what membership could mean for young people in Albania, and the hopes and challenges that come with joining the 27-member Union.
After the talk, there will be time for questions and discussion, followed by a coffee moment, a great chance to exchange ideas and meet both the ambassador and the minister in person.
This event is organised together with European Studies, Bestuurszaken of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, and the Embassy of Albania in The Hague.
