Publinova

Publinova is a national platform that makes practice-oriented research discoverable and visible to everyone. Publinova is a freely accessible multidisciplinary database, primarily containing full-text publications. The key advantages of open access publishing are that it increases the visibility, discoverability, and reuse of knowledge products. Open access thus strengthens the impact and repercussions of practice-based research in education, professional practice, and society. This aligns with the core values ​​of practice-based research.

Output
The Publinova platform publishes (research) products and projects by researchers and lecturers from Dutch universities of applied sciences. Information about people and parties is also listed/published here, enabling the sharing of expertise with colleagues from other universities of applied sciences and professionals in the field.

With your own Publinova account, if you are logged in via SURFconext, you can follow or favorite parties, researchers, products and projects. This way you will receive an update when there are new developments in your e-mail. You can also leave a comment under e.g. a product or adjust your own profile.

ORCID
You can also link your ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) to your Publinova profile. The benefits of an ORCID ID include preventing name confusion through unique identification, increasing the discoverability and visibility of your work, and saving time because data is automatically populated when submitting publications or applications. An ORCID also allows you to manage your professional profile and track your publications across institutions, as it serves as your permanent academic identity.

Source Systems
Most information comes from the research output source systems of universities of applied sciences. These can be, for example, SURFsharekit, PURE, Greeni, or the university's website. We retrieve information from source systems every 24 hours and combine it with other validated sources, using standards as much as possible.

Publinova is a service of SURF and a collaboration between the Dutch universities of applied sciences, the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, SIA, and SURF.

What is practice-oriented research?
The practice-oriented research of universities of applied sciences arises from a question or problem from practice. Results are knowledge, insights, products and services that contribute to innovation of professional practice and solving social issues. The knowledge that is acquired contributes directly to that professional practice and thus strengthens the quality of higher professional education.

Practice-oriented research is therefore focused and inspired by professional practice and is therefore distinguished from theory-oriented research, which is usually mainly focused on filling in the blanks in theory. With Publinova, practice-oriented research is made more visible, findable and available at a national level, across the boundaries of universities, regions, systems and domains.
