In My Sustainable Era

How can you make everyday things just a little cheaper and more sustainable? Discover it during In My Sustainable Era on Monday 12 October, from 11:00 to 14:00, in the Atrium. This event is organised by the Green Office and The Lighthouse.

The theme of the day is: small changes in your household. Sustainable living does not have to be difficult or expensive. By using your belongings for longer — for example by repairing clothes — throwing away less and dealing with waste more consciously, you can already make a real difference. This is often also better for your wallet. During Sustainable Monday, you will discover in micro-workshops how to apply sustainability in simple, practical ways in your daily life.

Do you have a small broken electrical appliance at home? Bring it with you on 12 October! At Repair Café Den Haag, you can have small electrical appliances checked and, where possible, repaired on the spot. This could include a lamp, toaster, sandwich maker, vacuum cleaner or any other small household appliance. Laptops, mobile phones and similar devices are excluded. You can also join a short crash workshop on how to replace a plug yourself.

Your clothes deserve a second life too! Do you have a garment with a loose seam, a small hole or another minor repair? Bring it along. Students from ROC Mondriaan’s Fashion (Re)Maker and Fashion Retailer programmes will help you repair or upcycle your own clothes.

Test your “green knowledge” in the Waste Warriors Exam in exchange for a small reward. Renewi will teach you how to separate waste properly, and our campus caterer Eurest, together with Instock, will show how vegetables that might otherwise go to waste can still be put to good use.
