Creative workshop

In this workshop, you'll create short video sketches through simple, playful interventions in your surroundings. What happens when you drop a sheet of paper from a building? Let a roll of tape drift away? Or set a series of objects in motion? Using everyday materials, found situations and a smartphone, you'll explore what happens when you move something, let it go, connect it or temporarily transform it.

It's not about making a perfectly crafted film, it's about experiment, chance and curiosity. Simple, strange or seemingly trivial ideas can produce surprisingly powerful images. Keep your eyes open for whatever presents itself along the way and use video to capture these brief interventions.

Artists

Johannes Langkamp (1985) is drawn to movement and unexpected interactions. His kinetic sculptures start with everyday questions: what happens when a sheet of paper falls from a building? Or when a wooden bench has a thousand yellow wheels as a seat? Playfulness and experimentation are at the core of his practice. His work has been shown at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Depot and Museum Voorlinden. You can experience his piece Pleased To Meet You - that bench with the yellow wheels - every day in the Atrium of The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
