Spoken word event

Yes, it's time for a new edition of our Spoken Word event! This time, the title is: Between the Lines. In the previous edition, we chose to use only Dutch or English. In this edition, we are deliberately creating space for lyrics in different languages.

Last week, several students and staff members took part in a Spoken Word workshop with Derek Otte here at THUAS. On Thursday, November 20, they will express what they have learned on stage.

Come along, support them, and be amazed by beautiful texts and stories. There will also be an Open Mic during the afternoon, so even as a member of the audience, you can make yourself part of the show. It promises to be another wonderful afternoon!

The event will be presented by spoken word artist Derek Otte. Depending on the artist and the audience, the host will present in Dutch or English.

Note: We do not tolerate hate speech, misogyny, racism, anti-LGBTIQ+ sentiment, or any other form of exclusion or discrimination in performances.

Join the audience

You can sign up to be part of the audience. Free entry for students and staff, as always!

Open Mic

During the event, we’ll also host an Open Mic, giving audience members the chance to perform or share their text. If you’re not selected for the main line-up, no worries! Come along anyway and share your words during the Open Mic.

Spoken Word Workshop

A week earlier, on Thursday, November 13, we hosted an inspiring Spoken Word workshop with none other than Derek Otte: poet, writer, and former poet laureate of Rotterdam. As a coach for Poetry Circle 010, Derek has already guided many young writing talents.
